Meet the panel

Sasha Hodges, owner of vintage shop Kokorokoko (1112 N Ashland Ave, 773-252-6996, koko-rokoko.blogspot.com) Prescott Tolk, comedian (prescotttolk.com); appearing at Zanies on Monday 14 David Sanchez, agent for Chosen Modeling Monica Dimperio, creator and editor of fashion blog theMidWasteland.com

Trend #1 Tall boots
Designer Anna Sui
Sasha Hodges “The boots are cute—very Parisian. The rest of the outfit looks like that fall day when you finally have to admit it is just too cold to wear your mother’s sheer hippy dress even with frumpy black leggings, gloves and a scarf.”
David Sanchez “She looks like a chicken styled by Tim Burton. I wonder if she clucked at the end of the runway.”
Monica Dimperio “Love, love, love the boots! They’re the only thing that isn’t wrong with this photo.”
Prescott Tolk “I’m pretty sure that she doesn’t have to pick herself up by those bootstraps.”

Trend #2 Leather
Designer Prada
Sasha Hodges “Somewhere a cow is crying. Cuffs but no collar is confusing, not to mention he looks as though he needs to gain a cup size to fit into the top.”
Prescott Tolk “Someone please send in Buffy.”
David Sanchez “If Muicca keeps designing these Star Trek–inspired outfits, this may be her final frontier. At least the Klingons will have impeccable shoes!”
Monica Dimperio “Two words that should never go next to each other in a sentence, leather and V-neck. This guy has to be sweating.”

Trend #3 Fur
Designer PPQ
Monica Dimperio “Do I have to say what this reminds me of? Fur is bad, I know, but it can look stylish and appropriate if worn above the waist.”
Sasha Hodges “Umm, that thing looks like a merkin made out of Rowlf’s head from The Muppets. Also, what is up with those shoes? Tights under sandals is like wearing a sweater under a bikini top.”
David Sanchez “A whore in Russia wouldn’t even wear this. Her muff is about to eat you and not in a good way.”
Prescott Tolk “It’s going to look awkward if an activist throws blood on that fur.”

Trend #4 Fierce shoulder
Designer Emanuel Ungaro
Sasha Hodges “I love the sweater and shoes. I think that it is high time to embrace true femininity and accentuate the feet and shoulders as much as possible. One question: Why is she wrapped up like the baby Jesus in a parachute?”
Prescott Tolk “Very revealing. I can read her like an open coloring book.”
David Sanchez “Perfection! A jacket that you can pair with just about anything. She looks confident, stylish and ready to make an impression.”
Monica Dimperio “Sharp shoulders are not a trend for the faint of heart. This is actually one of my fave looks of the season, but I won’t deny that it has the power to turn any lady into a modern-day Jane Jetson.”

Trend #5 Menswear on women
Designer Karen Walker
David Sanchez “Ms. Walker illustrates the importance of finding balance in our lives and clothing. It’s refreshing to see how feminine one can be under such a structured jacket.”
Monica Dimperio “There is always something a little sexy about a woman in men’s clothing. The look is especially fabulous when you add a completely femme detail like the candy-red pumps here.”
Sasha Hodges “Ewwww! Is she going to examine me with those gloves? The red shoes are a great exclamation point for the cigarette pants and a good structured jacket can often save an outfit, but nothing can dress up that ratty looking knit!”
Prescott Tolk “Dye it white and sell it back to Ellen.”
