52 Ways to a Healthy You ($17, amazon.com)
This holistic compendium brims with practical, DIY advice for eating right, feeling Zen and keeping slim. The tips are backed by solid research and, while you might have heard a lot of this stuff before, Laura Lewis’s fresh, peppy writing makes it feel fun and doable.

Star power
Zodiaction ($15, amazon.com)
The book’s shtick—use your zodiac sign to choose the ideal exercises and workouts for you—might make you roll your eyes, but the moves are 100 percent legit. (FYI, authors Ellen Barrett and Barrie Dolnick say that Scorpios should wear black and red workout clothes and their trouble spot is their upper arms.) Follow the creative, challenging and effective exercise series and just have fun with the sign stuff.

Soul saver
The Wisdom of Yoga ($16, amazon.com)
Real-life stories of everyday folks struggling with psychological problems—like bad relationships, unfulfilling careers and stress—are used to show how yoga heals.  Steven Cope’s background as a yoga teacher and psychotherapist merge in this compelling read. We predict you’ll be inspired to hit the studio for a class, whether or not you’re a die-hard yogi.—Liz Plosser
