Heather Flowers, Silken Tent
Suburbs

As a young girl, Flowers often gave her grandmother “minifacials” using cotton balls doused in Vaseline Intensive Care. “She always told me, ‘You have great hands—the magic touch.’?” Grandma was right. Today, the lead aesthetician at Silken Tent in Glenview prefers high-end organic products rich in peptides, antioxidants and vitamin C, but she hasn’t lost that touch. Her 75-minute antioxidant facial is among the best you’ll find in Chicagoland. Flowers possesses an encyclopedic knowledge of products and an intuitive sense that helps her gauge clients’ needs. Whereas many aestheticians will sit back, or even leave the room, while waiting for a facial mask to set, Flowers uses the time for invigorating massage, moving her hands in a smooth, relaxed manner that seems choreographed to the soothing background music. Without any prior discussion, she identifies a problem in my forearm (tennis elbow) and immediately goes to work. After the treatment, she goes a step further by demonstrating a yoga pose designed to help stretch the muscles in the arm. “I customize every facial to what your primary concern is,” Flowers says. “I can add many things to a facial without an upgrade: an eye mask, a peel. You can get a facial and almost have your entire body massaged. I have 20 minutes while the enzyme mask has to sit, so I might as well spend that time doing something for you.” Now that’s service you can bank on. 75-minute facial $140.
