Scents with sensibility
Packed with body benefits like smoother skin and fresh-smelling underarms, three new deodorants will have you high-fiving all day long.

Axe Dark Temptation
Claim to fame With names like Snake Peel and Armor, Axe’s products usually target supermacho, rugged mountaineer types. By adding notes of chocolate, amber and red peppercorn this time around, the brand attempts to reach out to another type—the loafer-wearing sophisticate. Axe claims the product will keep you dry for 24 hours. $5 at CVS (locations around the city).
Smells like… At first whiff, Axe’s Dark Temptation reveals no hint of cocoa, but when applied to the skin, we detect a whiff of fruity notes reminiscent of dark chocolate.
TOC says… The overall smell is still undeniably Axe (read: hints of…mosquito repellent?), just a little less overpowering. It’s good to have around when you run out of cologne.
Degree Fine Fragrances
Claim to fame The creator of Calvin Klein’s Obsession, Anne Gottlieb, had a hand in producing Degree’s new trio of fragrances, which combine antiperspirant power with perfume-caliber scent.
Smells like… Fresh and slightly floral Classic Romance hits the mark while Sexy Intrigue, despite its leopard-print packaging, doesn’t get much naughtier than powder-kissed vanilla. Delicious Bliss reminds us of a Lifesaver wrapped in fabric softener—verging on cloyingly sweet. $5 at CVS.
TOC says… We’d ratherwear our fragrance on our neck or wrists than invite someone to sniff our pits. But that’s just us.
Dove Visibly Smooth
Claim to fame Dove insists that the Pro-Epil Complex helps visibly reduce the appearance of hair over time, i.e. less irritating stubble.
Smells like… Between the deodorant’s pastel pink hue and its delicate soapy scent, Dove’s wild rose has an overall pleasing effect. $4 at Jewel (locations around the city).
TOC says… We’re still in the testing phase, but even if we don’t feel any smoother at the end of the recommended two-month stint, we dig the powerful stay-dry results and shower-fresh smell.
