Redmoon Theater rehearsal at Seward Park, 375 West Elm Street July 12, 3:35pm.

Trailer park On Saturday 22, Redmoon Theater’s newest spectacle will roll into Millennium Park—literally. The set of The Balloon Man—a rock & roll–sci-fi adventure featuring original live music by the Bitter Tears—is contained in a huge trailer truck. (Going mobile was the troupe’s solution to the limited setup and takedown time allowed by the city for its eight free shows, through Sunday 30). The Redmoon crew has been parking at Seward Park for rehearsals, and kids from the Cabrini Green neighborhood have been a helpful audience. “There’s a moment [in the play] about what kids like,” says Jim Lasko, Redmoon’s artistic director. “And when we pulled out a SpongeBob playing an Xbox, they were totally into that…that was good to know.”—Leah Pietrusiak
