Date Lisa
Lisa Thompson, 34
Ravenswood, executive director of a nonprofit agency

Of Lisa's many potential dates, our editors thought Deron's e-mail had the right mix of humor, good taste and NPR love. Here's what snagged him a date with Lisa.
First, let me explain the photo. That’s me with my best friend’s two kids. Cute SOBs huh?
I responded to this because I’ve had many people in my life wonder why - and how - the hell I haven’t met someone yet. So I felt a certain kinship with the four folks you’re trying to set up. Kinship might be a strong word, but you get my point.
I got my M.A. to teach someday, but currently I work for a small PR agency in town, writing and doing some account work.
As for our shared love of public radio, I have an addiction to a few shows: Morning Edition, Weekend Edition, This American Life and, of course, Car Talk (how can you not love those guys?). I set my alarm on Saturdays at 7:00 so I can lie there lazily and listen to Weekend Edition. I actually did a couple of commentary pieces for the NPR affiliate in Charlotte years ago.
The last thing I’ll do is compile a list of five songs my band would cover (I’m singing and on guitar, by the way.) Let’s see: “Gardening at Night” by REM; “Teenage Riot” by Sonic Youth; “505” by the Arctic Monkeys; “Intimate Secretary” by The Raconteurs; and “Get Miles” by Gomez. I was going to cover a couple of Bjork songs, but I thought Lisa might think that’d be weird. Love Bjork though.By the way, Lisa’s cute as hell. I could see why men might be intimidated by her.
That’s all I have. I’m exhausted. I think it could be fairly interesting seeing how this unfolds…unless of course I’m chosen somehow. That sounds terrifying.
