A renegade 80-foot-tall balloon shaped like a green dragon misses its designated landing site and eventually drops onto Ogden Avenue, adding some serious delays to the Friday morning rush hour.

The family area’s hugely popular All-American Lumberjack Show marks the first of three appearances by the gold medal winner of the Great Outdoor Games, a fixture on ESPN Ocho.

Tutti Frutti! Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Little Richard treats Lisle residents to an impromptu, three-hour show during his late-afternoon sound check.

A member of the ’90s jam band Spin Doctors refuses to take the stage until he receives three pairs of clean, white tube socks. Organizers ultimately acquiesce, to the disappointment of festgoers.

The event’s nonprofit organizer goes bankrupt. New agency shortens festival from four days to two-and-a-half, citing major budget cuts and lack of sponsors.
