Chicago contestants on Bravo's Work of Art: The Next Great Artist
Though I've been dreading Bravo's June 9 premiere of Work of Art: The Next Great Artist, Art Fag City blogger Paddy Johnson promises (after seeing the pilot) that the reality show "will not embarrass the art world." The other shocker is how many of the contestants have Chicago connections. There's Ryan Shultz, a recent Northwestern M.F.A.; John Parot, a Chicago native who recently moved to Los Angeles but has a show opening at Western Exhibitions May 7; and Amanda Williams, who's an adjunct associate professor of architecture at Illinois Institute of Technology.
UPDATE: I accidentally omitted SAIC M.F.A. Jaime Lynn Henderson. (Sorry about that; thanks to Western Exhibitions director Scott Speh for catching the mistake.) So, three of the 14 contestants live in the Chicago area, and one has spent most of his career here. Not too shabby.
