DJ Graham Funke and Sofia Vintage fashion show: Photo gallery
Working some connections from her previous role as director of special events for Rockit Ranch, Ashley Zisook—along with her business partner and sister Allison—pulled some strings and spent last night at the Underground hosting a fashion show for their vintage clothing store, Sofia. Enlisting a handful of local celebrities from nightlife and culture as models, this cross section of notable (and lovely) twenty-somethings strutted their stuff on a cat walk that ran the length of the club, with a packed house of onlookers (including, we think, um, Bill Bellamy) cheering them on. The guys sported throwback plaids, skinny ties and dark (selvage-looking) denim while the ladies rocked everything from body-length lace dresses to Ivy League sport coats and sock hop dresses. It was obvious from the playfulness of the models and their fans that the crowd in attendance was also made up of industry heads, socialites and scenesters.
The soundtrack for the night was provided by L.A. and Las Vegas staple DJ Graham Funke. Enlisted as part of the Underground's Winter Music Series (with sets in past weeks from Sky Nellor and DJ Irie), Funke provided the perfect Hollywood-style musical accompaniment. The celebrity jock has got a career resume that is the envy of every DJ in the midwest. Raised by an Academy Award-winning cinematographer, Funke has well enough connections in Hollywood to cut straight to the fore of A-List club culture. When he's not getting personal requests from Sting for mix CDs or spinning private fundraisers for one-time Democratic Presidential hopeful Hillary Rodham Clinton he's bouncing back and forth between L.A., Palm Springs, Vegas and his various monthly endeavors throughout the rest of the country. Donning his signature thin mustache, he Mixed it up between hipster dance, indie rock and club favorites, keeping the party going long after the cat walk was taken down and the lively attendees had spilled into the walkways and on top of the backs of booths to do their own impression of models showing off what they're made of.
