Post Holiday sales: Penelope's, Untitled, Robin Richman, Agent Provocateur and more

I've got a thing for the after-Christmas/early-January shopping season. In Chicago, the ranks of shoppers are thinned by frigid temps and strained credit cards, so there are no crowds to speak of—and the prices drop as steeply as the mercury. Plus, you've got plenty of cold left in the year to wear winter clothing. Right now, the shops in Wicker Park's crotch are sporting sale signs that come with actual sales. Untitled has Penfield, Shades of Greige parkas for men on sale and Nikita and other brands for women. Urban Outfitters, which I can barely stomach, had double-discounted skinny Levi's for dudes this weekend—so I walked away with $20 jeans yesterday. Skinny dudes, get on down. Solemates in Lincoln Park also tells me that the store is having a post-holiday sale with 20%–50% off everything, including its own Sir & Madame line.

Who else is having sales? Oh, only everybody.

Gamma Player's sale runs Thu–Sun, 50–70% winter collections.

Pagoda Red is holding a moving sale Saturday and Sunday, January 9–10, 10am–5pm at 30 N Racine with discounts up to 80% on items such as 19th-century calligrapher's tables, Chinese furniture, antiquities and whatnot.

Agent Provocateur is having a sale online—and also in the store. Looks like almost 50% off.
