Pat O'Brien gets scooped up by SNL

Live from New York, it's...yet another Chicagoan. Second City Mainstage ensemble member and iO player (The Reckoning, the P.O.B. Show) Pat O'Brien has landed a writing gig with SNL for its upcoming 35th season, according to the Sun-Times, and will leave Chicago in two weeks to begin his new job.

O'Brien was a mighty force to be reckoned with on the local improv scene, and we can think of few people more deserving of this success. We remember one particularly funny moment during Second City's current show America: All Better! in which O'Brien interrupted a sketch to propose to fellow ensemble member Shelly Gossman. Yep, it was a total fake-out, but we have to admit, we bought it for a second.
