Weeknights = Weaknights?
Recently, I've been seeing a lot of shows around town--comes with the territory--and I've noticed something disheartening: Where is everyone on Sunday-Wednesday nights?
I'm far from worried about the Chicago comedy scene as a whole; my trips to weekend shows are usually met with packed houses, even on Thursday nights. This week, I stopped by Blaire's new sketch show, Fresh 'N Clean, on Monday and Getting Serious + Practice Scaring A Bear on Tuesday. Both were engaging. Both were well put-together. Both were sporting five person audiences.
Chicago has one of the best comedy scenes in the country, and if you haven't ventured out to a show, now's as good a time as any. Weekend shows may get the buzz, but these off-beat, off-night options are well worth it, too. Each night offers a new way to work Chicago comedy into your busy schedule. Plus, what are you doing during the week that's so important anyways? Rearranging your house? Pruning your garden? Watching HGTV? Great shows like Fresh 'N Clean and Getting Serious + Practice Scaring A Bear won't be around much longer if we don't turn out to laugh.
