Lee Fields & The Expressions

DANCE/PERFORMANCE
“To Say Nothing of”

A video follow-up to Benjamin Pearson's 2010 live-performance piece, to: Act Proper, which felt like the CD of time was skipping, is one of four works collected by Anthony Romero for this bill. Benjamin Chaffee's TRYING TO SQUARE THE CIRCLE, AS NEARER A HALO APPEARS TO BE is a monologue that imagines another performance; Joni Murphy and Brian Wallace's Victory Over the Sun Was Never Won in the West tackles the drug trade; and five artists use movement and tasks to "stretch the meanings" of Baruch Spinoza's philosophies. Links Hall (3435 N Sheffield Ave, 773-281-0824, linkshall.org). 8pm; $10.

Lee Fields & The Expressions

MUSIC
Oval

Part of the ninth annual Adventures in Modern Music fest, Berlin electronic icon Oval fills the MCA Stage with spliced tones in support of last year’s expansive O. Museum of Contemporary Art, 7:30pm, $10–$20.

NIGHTLIFE
Sunnyside Up

With a stint at darkroom that lasted more than five years, DJs 4BZ and Mwelwa have been the forces behind Sunnyside Up, one of the city's top world-music dance parties. They've been bouncing from venue to venue the past few years, but that hasn't stopped them from getting feet moving to soca, reggae, Afrobeat and Brazilian beats for eight years now. The party celebrates its anniversary at a new home with help from 3Degrees househead FLX. Subterranean. 9pm; $5, free before 10:30pm.
