Former Chicago Bear Jerry Azumah hosts Laugh Until You Cry fundraiser

Former Chicago Bear Jerry Azumah with Illinois native and Philadelphia 76er Andre Iguodala
On Tuesday night inside the plush confines of the W Hotel City Center, a slew of damn good comics took center stage for a worthy cause. WGCI radio personalities Leon Rogers and Tony Sculfield, NPR Vocalo’s Brian Babylon, Lil’ Rell, and Damon Williams were a few of the performers at Laugh Until You Cry, a charity fund-raiser that benefitted the Azumah Student Assistance Program—which provides scholarships for students—and Andre Iguodala Youth Foundation, a nonprofit that empowers students, athletes and communities.
Rising comedians Alex Ortiz, Chastity Washington, Willie Lynch Jr., Leah Eva and Tyson K also kept the crowded in stitches. The audience’s nonstop guffawing followed a range of wisecracks about men with dreadlocks (who have receding hairlines), Michael Jackson’s televised memorial, calling the wrong telephone number and being Lexus-helicopter rich. Nothing and no one was off limits, including audience member Fox anchor Lou Canellis. All jokes aside, the charity partnership between Azumah and Philadelphia 76er Andre Iguodala raised some serious cash—$10,000 according to the event planners.
