Spend a night in Public Hotel for a dollar

Things that cost a dollar: a Coke from the soda machine, a song on iTunes and, uh, an overnight stay at Public hotel. Yep, you read that last part right. It was announced yesterday that Ian Schrager's new Gold Coast hotel (formerly the Ambassador East hotel) is offering three guest rooms at a rate of $1 each every day over a 90-day period.

As far as I can tell, there doesn't seem to be much of a catch here. The first day of the 90-day period hasn't been announced yet, but you can sign up at Public's website to get a heads-up for when the sale goes live. Once the sale starts, you'll have 48 hours to scoop up the room rates (it's all about the flash sale these days) and tickets are first come, first served. And what to do with all the money you're saving? You could always head downstairs to the Pump Room and order the roasted carrot and avocado salad, one of the best things we ate last year.
